This ancient wine chai has been carefully converted into two separate and spacious luxury gites, with a shared indoor heated swimming pool. The property is set in the magnificent walled garden of a Maison de Maitre and is surrounded by vineyards to one side and the heart of the village to the other. The winding terraced streets of St Marcel are home to two churches, boulangerie, tabac, bar, restaurant, PO, hairdressers and pharmacy. The wine from surrounding vineyards can be tasted and bought in the village wineries. Located six miles from the historic town of Narbonne and close to the World Heritage site of the Canal du Midi and the river Aude.
Beyond the grand entrance gates there is secure off-road parking and a half acre of secluded garden with loungers, swings and fully equipped bbq and dining area. This hidden world has a beautifully well maintained lawn with both sun and the shade of an array of trees. The sound of bird song and the cascading fountain in the lily ponds are uninterrupted in this stunning oasis. On the the first floor of the chai, attractive external staircases lead to the fabulous heated swimming pool and the large separate open plan living areas of the two houses. The pool dimensions are 8m x 5.5m and 1.5m - 2m deep. The kitchen areas are fully equipped with gas oven and hob with extractor fan, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The comfortably furnished lounge areas have Astra satellite TV and DVD player. The dining tables are large and there are plenty of chairs.
The larger of the two houses has 4 bedrooms; two double bedrooms upstairs with loo, washbasin and shower. Below leading from the living area are two twin bedrooms and a bathroom. The kitchen/dining area has a door leading directly through to the pool.
The smaller house has 3 bedrooms; a double downstairs and two twin bedrooms upstairs. The bathroom has a multi-spray shower, washbasin and toilet.
The one bedroom gite is on the ground floor with high-beamed ceilings with room for a cot if needed. The bathroom has a multi spray shower.
